Google Calendar gets 200 event colors, Voice adds Gemini notes


Google Calendar this week is adding A nice quality of life upgrade that offers users over 11 colors to customize events. BesidesGoogle Voice business users now have “Take Notes for Me” powered by AI.

Previously, Google Calendar users were limited to “11 predefined colors for events.” The expanded palette offers up to 200 custom event colors so users “can personalize events and visually organize their calendar with ease.”

By default, Google Calendar on all platforms will allow users to select from 24 preset colors. A full RGB color picker is available on the web and in the Calendar API.

Custom event colors have been a “long-standing feature request from both business and personal users.” It will be rolled out starting today and will be fully available in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Google Voice for business customers is boosting call recording with “Take Notes for Me.” In addition to recording, Gemini will now transcribe calls, summarize key points, and organize action items, just like in Google Meet.

During calls, the “Record” button is now called “Notes.” There is a disclosure that says “This call is being recorded and captured by AI.”

Administrators can customize consent in the administration console. Administrators can also customize consent language to align with their company standards.

When you hang up, you will be able to find the transcription, audio recording, and notes in the Voice app, while the notes will also be emailed to your account.

Take Notes for Me is available with the Voice Standard and Voice Premier add-ons, as well as the standalone Voice Standard plans. It is available by default for new Voice users, but requires manual enablement for existing users.
