Google’s busy week continues as a new security patch is released for its Pixels, including a number of fixes for the latest software.
Android 17 launched this week and Pixels will receive a feature-packed June release. Now a June security patch has been detailed with a substantial number of fixes for Pixel phones. The update is rolling out to Pixel 6 and newer devices, marked as vCP2A.260605.012 for global units. Google’s extensive patch notes clue us in on several fixes to “Display and Graphics” issues that have plagued Pixel phones over the past few months.
The two fixes that apply only to the Pixel 10 series in this category involve a strange “blinking white dot” and “graphical errors” during standard operations. A third graphics solution concerns the Pixel 8, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet series. Google says it is rolling out a fix for device freezing that occurs when connected to an external display.
The Pixel camera has also been a problem for Pixel users recently. The Pixel 9 and 10 series are receiving a fix for a system crash. Also included in this patch are fixes for camera app freezes and crashes. On the other hand, the Pixel’s power consumption and battery issues have continued to plague Google. This month, a slow wireless charging speed issue should be fixed, along with a fix for failed wired and wireless charging controllers “during device setup.”
Unstable audio was another Google focus that is now being fixed, along with two issues affecting app crashes and backup settings.
A laundry list
As usual, this Pixel patch is gradually rolling out to users. We may not all see it at the same time, so be on the lookout for it to arrive on your phone soon.
we have gone back to back now with patches aimed at critical loading and display issues on Google Pixels. In May, slow wireless charging issues were a major concern for the company. At the time, users reported experiencing reduced speeds between 75% and 80% battery. Interestingly, this same problem was also blamed for the problems that affected the Pixels in June, meaning that the problem was not completely eradicated.
Hopefully these fixes clean up what’s left. Blurry, frozen, and strange display artifacts were problematic for the Pixel 10 series in May.
On the positive side, Google’s June patch is added the huge pixel drop. Android 17 is finally hereand the company has started rolling out the new operating system and these new Pixel features to users. “Bubbles” and the “Bubble Bar” are two new features for Pixels and Folds, offering a new way to easily multitask between apps. “Screen Reactions” allows you to place a selfie video of yourself over a screen recording to simulate a green screen without additional equipment.
Android Central’s opinion
Often, Google Pixel Drops can include extensive fixes. I feel like it’s more so now considering Android 17 is here and any lingering issues from the last few minutes of testing are being ironed out. We are here to make navigation easier for any user with pixels affected by glitches and errors.
