It’s been a difficult few weeks for fans of BungieThe long-running live service looter shooter Destiny 2 like me, with the study announcing last month That development on the nearly decade-long title would end with its final content update, Monument of Triumph, which released on June 9.
Since then, Bungie has continued to patch the game as it prepares to eventually stop intervening and focus solely on server maintenance so that Destiny 2 It’s still playable. Sadly, though, I’d say it looks like any live service support for the space fantasy FPS beyond that will soon come to an end.
Addressing the community on social media, Destiny 2 communications manager Dylan “dmg04” Gafner explained that Bungie is entering “our final series of fixes” and that the studio is “closer to the final delivery of the patch notes” as it works on final adjustments and bug fixes for the game.
“As we move through our latest series of fixes, the team is trying to eliminate as many bugs as possible,” he wrote. “You’ll see some skill bug fixes next week and a bunch of other things that will be addressed in a later update, but we’re getting closer to the final delivery of the patch notes.”

Gafner then went on to note that “some issues may not be addressed due to ‘risk'” or due to “ranking” priorities before Bungie moves away from Destiny 2. For example, fixes for issues that may cause more problems, low-priority balance changes, fixes for visual glitches with gear, or adjustments to the PvP playlist are the kinds of things the studio plans to give up as its support ends.
However, there are much bigger problems, such as a technology with the new portable Titan Ward of Dawn that allows you to kick raid bosses off the map and other failed strategies in PvE and PvP, are things Bungie is focusing on.
He added that after the game’s final update (the timing of which is TBD), any additional patches “will be limited to serious issues such as widespread crashes.” If major issues arise after that, Gafner says “we’ll probably lean on disabling items, abilities, or whatever is to blame for the issue at hand.”
“It’s a little hard to get to the bottom of this, but we wanted to set expectations appropriately. We’re not going to turn a blind eye to your reports. We may be limited in what we can do, but we’ll still try,” he continued. “I’ll always thank you. See you out there.”
While I’m glad Bungie is still, in some way, addressing big The problems that arise after its full support for Destiny 2 ends, hearing that you will have to be incredibly selective with what you work with is quite sobering.
It reminds us that this is really the end of a game that many of us have played and loved for years and years, and based on Recent reports about possible layoffs.I fear it will also be the end of Destiny and Bungie as we know it.
