One of the biggest new games this year for microsoft and xbox is Halo: Evolved Campaign — a complete remake of the first game, 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved, featuring new gameplay additions, expanded replayability, and a graphical makeover powered by Unreal Engine 5.
goes to Xbox Series|S, Windows PC and PS5 at the end of next month, and Xbox will confirm its long-rumored release date of July 28 during the Xbox game showcase. Notably, you can log in on July 23, five days early, if you purchase the Premium Edition; I imagine that has incentivized a lot of players to pre-order, which has led to the game climbing positions on the Steam sales list.
Now that the Halo With just over a month to go until the remake’s full release, something PC gamers in particular have wanted to know is what the game’s system requirements and recommended specifications are.
Fortunately, they have now been announced by Xbox and the developer. halo studiosand I have included them in the following image and table for your convenience:

All in all, for an Unreal Engine 5 title that aims to deliver maximum visual fidelity, Halo: Campaign Evolved’s CPU, GPU, and VRAM requirements aren’t too bad. You can aim for 1440p/4K resolution with 60 FPS and Medium or High settings with hardware that’s five to six years old, which is probably what many gaming rigs are equipped with.
However, the memory and storage requirements are a little stricter. Requiring 16GB of memory for the lowest quality levels at 1080p and 1440p is fine (most gamers have that much), but requiring 32GB if you want to go higher is a bit debilitating, especially during ongoing RAM crisis.
Campaign Evolved also requires 100 GB of SSD space, which is quite a lot for a campaign-only FPS game. You’ll have to uninstall a game or two if your gaming hard drive doesn’t have three digits of space available.
Something worth noting is that it is unclear whether these requirements were determined with or without performance-enhancing technologies such as Super resolution and Frame generation taken into account. Which do What we do know, however, is that Campaign Evolved supports its use, along with things like NVIDIA Reflex and other anti-latency tools. This will make it easier to take advantage of the game’s uncapped frame rate.
Ultimately leaving out the 100GB requirement? I would say that the Halo remake looks like it has been optimized quite well and should run well on most PCs with the optimal settings chosen. Although I can’t say for sure until the game comes out.
