9to5Mac’s opinion
These statements probably don’t mean much, even if they are accurate.
Apple’s product development plans run several years in advance, so it wouldn’t be surprising to know that the company is already hard at work on an iPhone Ultra 2. However, this doesn’t mean that the model will one day see the light of day. If its predecessor fails, the project can easily be cancelled.
Likewise, there is almost certainly a team working on the development of the iPhone Air 3, even if the company has not yet made a decision on whether to pursue it.
One possible reason for the disparity in reports may be that Apple sees a way to reduce the price of an Ultra 2 by a worthwhile amount, in which case it may be more confident in releasing it even if the first-generation Ultra proves unpopular.
