Mirage is a new app that brings best-in-class wireless desktop screen sharing to the entire Apple ecosystem. You can stream from your Mac to your iPhone, iPad, Vision Pro, or even another Mac. It has very low latency and has a ton of great features that make it the one-stop shop for using your Mac remotely.
Main features
There are a couple of ways to use headlines Mirage. The most popular way is probably Mac to iPad, which lets you use your Mac desktop on your iPad, with full support for your Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. This is great if you have a powerful Mac Studio or Mac mini at home, but you only carry your iPad as a laptop. With Mirage, you can remotely access your Mac in Retina quality. Despite being wireless, it works quite well and can even support up to 120fps on ProMotion iPads.
Another great use case is from Mac to Mac. If you have an older (or less capable) iMac at home, Mirage can let you turn that iMac into a secondary monitor for your primary Mac. You can even use a USB-C cable to enhance streaming, making 5K iMac streaming possible.
Mirage However, it doesn’t just support primary or secondary screen sharing: you can also cast individual app windows. This is awesome if you only care about having a Mac app on your iPad, but otherwise prefer to use iPadOS. This use case also extends to Vision Pro.
Lastly, Mirage supports remote connections through Tailscale. This means that if you have Tailscale (or another form of shared VPN) on both devices, you can access your desktop Mac at home while you’re on the go.
