While the Google Pixel experience is easily one of the best you’ll find today, it’s no secret that other platforms often have features that aren’t available on a Pixel device. As Google prepares to fill another one of those gaps, what features do you think are still missing from the Pixel phones?
New findings in Android 17 suggest that Google is adding a proper “random” wallpaper option to Pixel phones, a feature that has become common on other devices. I use it on my Galaxy Z Fold 7 to shuffle some of those Stunning images from the credits Ave Maria Project on my lock screen, but it’s available far beyond Samsung phones. Even Apple supports it on iPhone. The Google Pixel has had a very limited version of this for the better part of a decade, but it’s amazing that it’s taken this long to be in development.
It got me thinking: what other features are missing from the Pixel?
For a while, it felt like Google had been checking boxes for things I’d missed on other devices. Pixel foldable devices/tablets now support pop-up apps through bubblesFor example. That’s something I really liked about the Galaxy Z Fold line, but missed last year while daily driving the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. some time agofinally added autofill to use PIN unlock, something Google left out for too long and something I always missed when switching back to the Pixel from basically any other Android device.
But those are just a couple of examples that came to mind; This is where I really want to give you the floor.
