Galaxy Glasses app leaked, showing case and ‘One UI XR’

Samsung’s next Galaxy glasses won’t be coming out any time soon, but new leaks shed some light on the first Android XR glasses.

SammyGuru has released screenshots of the Galaxy Glasses companion app, revealing new looks at the Galaxy Glasses hardware (at least the Warby Parker model) and the app you’ll use to pair and manage the glasses.

Perhaps most interesting here is a look at the carrying/charging case, which looks more like an oversized headphone charging case than something like the case used with Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses. The case has an external light to show charging and pairing status, and the description implies that there is a part of the case that would touch the glasses to charge them, without the need for a wired connection.

Additionally, the app has a section for managing imported photos and videos, settings for various features, as well as a software update page that prominently displays “One UI XR.” It is the same brand used by Galaxy XR and is a customized version of the Android XR platform. Of course, since the Galaxy Glasses are an audio-only product, it’s hard to say for sure what changes Samsung may make.

Some chains are also hinting at Galaxy Ring integration, with gestures that could control aspects of the glasses.

  • com.samsung.android.ring.GESTURE_ACTION
  • com.samsung.android.ringplugin.gesture.ACTION_GLASSES_START
  • com.samsung.android.ringplugin.gesture.ACTION_GLASSES_STOP

Google and Samsung have confirmed that these glasses will be released before the end of the year, but the actual date is unclear. We’ll likely get more information along with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 next month.
