What you need to know
- Meta AI glasses announce major golf integrations coming to the US and Canada as 18Birdies and Arccos enter with hands-free AI assistance.
- Users will receive a “voice experience” while playing golf, capable of telling the AI to “start a round of golf” and receive shot tips, club recommendations, hazard alerts and more.
- Other Meta glasses, such as the Oakley Meta Vanguard, have previously been praised for improving the experience for athletes.
Golf is not for the weak. It takes patience, skill and understanding, and now Meta is looking to leverage his AI glasses to help you attack like a pro.
Today (July 1), Goal announced which is launching a “new era” of Athletic Intelligence for its AI glasses for golfers. The company’s Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta eyewear are getting a major integration into golf, thanks to 18Birdies and Arccos. Of course, such integration is nothing without the user’s choice of preferred application, and that’s exactly what Meta offers.
After deciding, users will experience a “voice-based golf experience” that provides them with information about their game as they play. Meta AI will communicate course data, wind conditions, your performance data, club recommendations and more. Adding 18Birdies and Arccos to the mix unlocks a whole new level of golf. Meta claims that with 18Birdies, users can say, “Hey Meta, start a round of golf.” Yardage details, hazard warnings and more become clear, all without you having to ruin your concentration.
Arccos handles master level recommendations on which club could give you the best results. Oakley showed a demonstration how Meta AI’s golf integration can help the user determine their goal and which club to use. The AI is specific and details what the hole is in the ground, so you understand why the recommendation was given. When a round concludes, Meta AI along with Arccos can provide “insight into your game by accessing shot analysis, connecting with coaches on Skillest, and tracking your improvement over time.”
Always look for a hole in one
Meta says its AI-integrated golf experience is here to help you strategize as you play. Additionally, users can capture POV photos and videos while playing to share with others. Integration with 18Birdies and Arccos is rolling out in the US and Canada for Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Glasses.
Meta highlighted an important pair of AI glasses in this announcement: the Oakley Meta Vanguardia. The company’s Oakley Meta HSTN was also mentioned as a pair of frames that enhance the experience for athletes. As for Meta Vanguard, they are quite useful for runners, hikers, and cyclists. The glasses feature strong integration with Garmin, allowing users to ask Meta about their “average/current pace” when running.
Android Central’s opinion
I have been recommended golf before on a couple of different occasions. What has interested me in Meta integrations, from an outside perspective, is how useful their AI seems. It’s a pleasure to watch those Instagram videos; I encourage you to do so if you haven’t already. The user can ask about anything related to their score, what is the trend of their score and even how to hit the ball. All I’m missing is an arc that appears halfway like it does in video games and that’s it.
