What you need to know
- T-Mobile’s newest Member Month benefit is a $60 limited-edition Umbro soccer jersey available through the T-Life app starting July 7.
- The jersey is an original Umbro x T-Mobile design, not linked to any club or national team.
- T-Life’s existing benefits aren’t going anywhere, so the collaboration with Umbro is an additional option rather than a replacement.
T-Mobile has been giving away everything from gas discounts to entertainment perks over the past month, but its latest Member Month reward takes a very different approach. Instead of another free gift, the airline is joining the football culture with an exclusive collaboration that customers can wear.
The company associated with sportswear brand Umbro to introduce a limited-edition soccer jersey only for T-Mobile members. The trick? There is no free lunch. Starting July 7, eligible customers will be able to purchase the t-shirt for $60 through T-Life appwhile supplies last.
The shirt is not emblematic of any particular club or national team. Instead, it’s an original design from Umbro and T-Mobile that combines the sportswear company’s football heritage with T-Mobile’s signature magenta branding.
The launch is also part of T-Mobile’s broader Member Month promotion, celebrating 10 years of customer rewards. The company said the T-Life app had nearly 14 million members interact with the app in the first week of the campaign, one of the busiest engagement periods the platform has ever seen.
Customers received benefits throughout the month, including discounted fuel, travel benefits, dining deals, and access to exclusive events like a members-only T-Pain show. T-Mobile also distributed more than 600,000 fuel discount codes and helped more than 1,500 drivers fill up at $1.99 a gallon.
Of course, the airline’s existing profits will not disappear due to the Umbro collaboration. Customers with eligible plans still get access to ongoing extras, like streaming subscriptions, travel benefits, DoorDash DashPass offers, and other T-Life promotions. The shirt is just the latest on that growing list.
Android Central’s opinion
As for me, I can’t help but laugh at the sheer audacity of it all. Definitely a bold move to end a month of real, tangible benefits, like free food delivery and dirt-cheap gas, by asking us to pay a premium to become a traveling billboard. Yes, the Umbro collaboration gives it a small hint of street style cred, but at the end of the day, it’s still a $60 T-Mobile ad.
