Galaxy Z Fold 8 prices have been leaked, and what are we doing?

Peak ironic comedy. This is how I would describe the leaked prices for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, as Samsung’s new “Wide” device will be cheaper than the “Ultra”, which will increase in price for no obvious reason.

According to a report by winfutureThe Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will start at the same €1,999 as its predecessor, but that’s for the all-new wide form factor, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 “UItra” (you know, the one that’s barely changed) will see a price increase of €100 to €2,199.

What are we doing?

Apparently, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will also get a price increase to a starting price of €1,299, an increase of €100.

Here’s how the prices of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series break down, at least in Germany, according to the report.

You can’t help but laugh.

To reiterate, the “Galaxy Z Fold 8” here is the new, larger form factor that Samsung has officially started teasingsomething that is brand new to the alignment. And it is the same price as last year (following the price increase in early 2026). Meanwhile, the “Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra” is effectively unchanged from the Fold 7, and is becoming much more expensive.

Looking at the bigger picture, here are some partial explanations. The “Ultra” physically has more hardware, with a third camera that the wider model completely lacks, in addition to a bigger battery. But it’s still a tough pill to swallow given that the wider device is, again, completely new to Samsung’s lineup, where the “Ultra” is essentially a small update to last year’s model.

But then again, what doesn’t increase prices now? In that sense, the report also sets the prices of the Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2, which are increasing by around 10%.
