Apple TV just announced the release date for season 2 of Dark Matter, the long-awaited return of a beloved sci-fi hit.
Dark Matter returns for season 2 this August

Dark Matter is one of many solid sci-fi series on Apple TV, joining hits like Rupture, For many, Base, Siloand more.
The series premiered in 2024 with a solid first season based on Blake Crouch’s popular novel.
Now Apple has just announced his long-awaited return.
The second season of Dark Materials premieres on Friday, August 28 with one episode, followed by weekly releases until October 30.
The first season of Dark Matter covered the source material of the novel and there are no sequels. So for some fans of the books, the existence of a second season could cause concern.
Fortunately, Dark Matter season 2 is directed and co-written by the novel’s author, Crouch. So the new story comes straight from the mind behind the hit book.

Here’s Apple’s official Season 2 plot summary:
Season two begins with the Dessens as they adjust to a quiet life in a world that finally seems safe until the unimaginable forces them to flee once again. As Jason’s obsession with the Box deepens, Daniela’s (Connelly) growing paranoia pushes her over the edge, threatening to shatter her fragile stability. Elsewhere, Amanda (Braga) and Ryan (Simpson) join forces in a desperate attempt to find their way home. With Blair (Brugel) determined to stop him, Leighton (Okeniyi) relentlessly pursues his grand vision of creating a perfect world.
The same main cast from Season 1 returns, led by Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly and more.
