Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 and Sony WF-1000XM6 are easy recommendations, but they’re not the best headphones for everyone. I have been a Status Audio Pro X fan since they launched at the end of last year, and right now, thanks to Amazon’s big spring sale: you can get them for $50 off their original price.
This means that you can pick up one of the best sounding headphones It’s on the market right now for just $249, which is about a 17% discount. Of course, even at this price, they are still quite expensive and almost $80 more than the Pixel Buds Pro 2which have dropped to $169. But if sound quality is your top priority, you shouldn’t overlook the Status Audio Pro X.
✅Recommended if: You want comfortable headphones with excellent sound quality and a fatigue-free experience; you like granular control over your listening experience and enjoy adjusting the equalizer; You prefer physical buttons to control actions.
❌Skip this offer if: You want deep ecosystem features and prioritize long battery life, as despite the 8-hour claim, they typically last 5-6 hours on a single charge.
Having used the Status Audio Pro They fit my ears perfectly and despite looking a little bulky compared to others, they stay in place for long sessions without causing fatigue.
Another feature I really like is the physical button located on the top of each earbud. You can assign it to actions like switching between ANC modes or activating your phone’s assistant. Combined with the gesture controls, this makes it one of the most comprehensive and intuitive control systems I’ve used in headphones.
But what really sets them apart is the sound quality. These headphones use a 12mm dynamic driver, which is common on flagship models, but also include two balanced armature drivers that raise the overall soundstage. On top of that, the companion app lets you adjust the EQ to a control level you rarely see on most headphones.
That being said, not everything is perfect. I found the battery life a bit disappointing. The company claims that they last up to 8 hours on a single charge, but in my use they lasted between 5 and 6 hours with ANC enabled. And this could be a problem for those who plan to purchase them for long-distance trips.
That said, these headphones do most things well, and at this price, if you want something outside of the Apple, Sony, or Samsung ecosystem, this is an easy recommendation.
