Galaxy S26 switches to ‘Hey Perplexity’ wakeword


Samsung previously announced that the Galaxy S26 series would support a “Hey Plex” wakeword for the Perplexity app, but this will now change to “Hey Perplexity.”

He first software update for the Galaxy S26 series is now launching and with it, the “Hey Plex” wake word is gone. This was noted by SamMobilewho also shared screenshots of what the experience of always hearing the keywords was like.

But it hasn’t disappeared forever.

Confirmed by Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas on Twitter/XThe Galaxy S26 series will not remove this feature permanently, but has simply been removed temporarily while the two companies update the wake word to “Hey Perplexity.”

There’s no stated reason why the wake word is changing, but it’s not hard to imagine that another company might have had a problem with the “Hey Plex” option. But this is pure speculation on our part. We will update this article if any new information comes to light.

Meanwhile, you can still use “Hey Google” for Gemini or “Hey Bixby” for Bixby, because these phones have so many options.
