TL;DR
- Gemini Live now offers more in-depth, interactive news summaries instead of basic headline dumps.
- You can ask follow-up questions mid-conversation without needing to restart or rephrase.
- The Google Home app adds support for Android 16, including an edge-to-edge UI and predictive backup.
if you use Gemini live For quick headlines, prepare for a big improvement. Google is adding more detailed, interactive news summaries within live conversations. Now you can explore stories in depth instead of just listening to the top headlines like an RSS feed.
Before this update, if you asked “What’s the latest news?” During a live session, you would get a basic overview. Now, summaries are more detailed and, better yet, conversational. You can ask follow-up questions like “tell me more about that tech story” or “what’s the latest on that antitrust case?” without having to start over, according to Google’s updated Nest support page.
Most voice assistants simply give you the news as a quick announcement: headlines, a brief summary, and that’s it. With the latest update to Gemini Live, you can stay in the same session and dig deeper into the important stories, to really understand what’s going on instead of just skimming the surface.
No need to look for a separate app update. If you’re already in the Gemini Live early access program, this feature is now available. Simply start a conversation and ask for news. The system collects information from various sources and allows you to guide the conversation based on what interests you.
