TL;DR
Since Google Messages is the default messaging app on many Android flagships Today, some improvements could not come sooner. Users have long complained about a simple oversight in Google Messages: the ability to copy a portion of the message, and Google has taken its time to address this limitation. We finally saw the company. working on a solution last monthand now the ability to copy a part of the message is starting to roll out to some users in the beta branch.
With Google Messages v20260306 beta, we can now copy a specific part of a text message to one of our devices (OnePlus 13R).

This is most likely a phased rollout, as we may not see the same capability on some of our other phones, even if we have the same version of the Messages app.
Google Messages offers the ability to long-press a message, but annoyingly it only shows a “Copy” option that copies the entire message. This is good for short texts, but not very convenient for longer texts that contain only a few useful data, such as OTP, links, and addresses. Most users end up copying the entire message into a notes app, another text editor, or a text field, and then selecting the relevant part to copy again.
With the change now rolling out to the beta branch, users will now be able to long-press on a message and then drag it to select a specific part of the text to copy. If you want to copy the entire message, you can still tap the “Copy” button to do so.
