Google has announced a new Play tests feature for GooglePlay which allows users to try paid games before purchasing them. The system allows players to access the full version of a game at no cost for a limited time. If they decide to purchase the title later, their progress will carry over so they can pick up where they left off.
Google says the feature aims to make it easier for users to discover and purchase premium games.
Play tests will allow players to try paid mobile games without any down payment. Instead of watching gameplay videos or reading reviews, users will be able to experience the actual game before deciding if it is worth purchasing.
If a player decides to purchase the game after the trial, all saved progress will be automatically transferred. Google says the feature will begin rolling out to select paid games on mobile devices first, with support for Google Play Games on PC planned later.
Google is also introducing a “Buy once and play anywhere” Pricing system for selected paid games. With this system, purchasing a game on Google Play will provide both mobile and PC versions of the title, eliminating the need to purchase the same game twice.
The feature will initially roll out to games like Queen, OTTTD and dungeon Tick.
The announcement adds to Google’s efforts to expand the number of paid games available on the game store. Google says more indie titles will come to the platform in 2026, including games like Moonlight Spikes, Sleigh I play, and ILow budget repairs.
These titles can be played on Windows PCs and mobile devices through Google Play Games, with player progress synchronized across devices through the Gamer Profile system.
Google also highlighted new social and support features within Google Play. He Community Posts Feature allows players to ask questions, share tips, and discuss the game right in the Play Store. The feature is currently available in English for dozens of games, with more languages planned.
Plus, Google is expanding Play Buddy Gamesan in-game overlay that provides AI-generated tips and in-game guidance while you play supported titles.
Along with Game Trials, these updates are part of Google’s broader effort to strengthen The Google Play gaming ecosystem for both mobile players and PC.
