Google has eliminated “What people suggest”an AI-powered search feature that compiled crowdsourced health tips from Reddit, Quora and X in response to medical queries. The feature launched in March 2025 on mobile devices in the United States and has since been quietly discontinued.
A Google spokesperson confirmed the removal to The Guardian, stating that the decision was part of a “broader simplification” of the search results page and was not related to the quality or security of the feature.

Originally released on March 2025 on mobile in the USThe tool was intended to help users see how other people with similar conditions manage their health.
Google did not run a specific announcement when the feature was removed. When asked where the decision had been publicly communicated, a spokesperson pointed to a November 2025 post by Google search advocate John Mueller. That post contains no reference to what people are suggesting.
Google has not confirmed the exact date the feature was removed.
According to Google, the removal was not related to security or accuracy issues. Instead, the company says it’s part of a broader effort to simplify the search experience and reduce clutter on results pages.
However, Google has not pointed to any clear public announcement specifically mentioning the removal of the feature.
Even as Google denies security concerns, the move comes amid growing scrutiny over AI-generated medical advice. In early 2026, Google faced criticism after its AI-generated summaries provided incorrect and potentially harmful health guidance, including:
Health experts warned that such errors could lead users to misinterpret serious conditions or delay treatment.
The removal of “What People Suggest” highlights a key change for AI in healthcare: While summarizing actual user experiences can be helpful, it can also spread misleading or unsafe advice when taken out of context.
For now, Google appears to be phasing out experimental AI health features, even as it continues to expand AI in Search in other areas. Google has not indicated whether it plans to replace What People Suggest.
