How I Streamed My Miata Off-Road Race Using Starlink and StarStream

In the end, Wolff was able to make his car drivable by hitting the steering components with a rock and using a ratchet strap to hold it in place. He then took the heavy car to his pits, where his team worked to get his vehicle back on track.

Unfortunately, Wolff was left out of the race and was officially DNFed (did not finish), but he won the hearts of many fans. The team’s merchandise purchases have increased tenfold, he is the talk of off-road Facebook pages, and Wolff’s sponsors, especially Warn Winches, couldn’t be happier.

However, the system is not perfect, especially when the Starlink antenna is obstructed. Wolff’s Creek had many unclear sections due to the narrow rock canyons the course enters and exits. Without a clear view of the sky, Starlink is in trouble.

StarStream isn’t cheap either, although when factored into the overall budget of a professional racing team, it’s quite reasonable. The box, cameras and cables are $3,600. You will need a Starlink Mini antenna for approximately $300and you need the $250 per month Global Priority service plan. I bought my ceiling mount for $220 of wild UTV. You’ll also need sturdy camera mounts and a StarStream box mount.
