Additionally, OpenAI has reduced the annual price of ChatGPT Business standard seats. from $25 to $20 per seat per month. This option provides broader access to ChatGPT along with Codex for teams that need it.
How Codex-only pay-as-you-go seats work
Exclusive Codex seats offer full access to Codex without a fixed monthly fee per seat. Instead, teams are billed based on token consumption, which creates a direct link between use and cost. OpenAI explains that the model is designed to help users more easily track spending across specific workflows, budgets, and teams.
For organizations requiring broader ChatGPT functionality alongside Codex, standard ChatGPT Business seats are still available. These include access to Codex but are subject to usage limits.
Introductory Credit Terms for Codex Exclusive Positions
Eligible ChatGPT Business workspaces can receive $100 in credits for each new Codex-exclusive team member added, up to a maximum of $500 per team. The offer is available for a limited time and applies to both existing workspaces, adding exclusive Codex seats, and newly created ChatGPT Business workspaces. OpenAI has not announced an end date for the credit promotion.
Use and adoption of Codex in ChatGPT Business and Enterprise
OpenAI reports that more than 2 million developers use Codex weekly, and the number of Codex users within the ChatGPT Business and Enterprise workspaces has increased sixfold since January 2026. The company also claims that more 9 million Paying business users depend on ChatGPT for their work.

OpenAI has not specified a minimum team size for eligibility for exclusive Codex seats nor has it shared the per-token fee for usage-based billing.
