GSC Game World 2024’s open-world survival shooter STALKER 2 is set to have a pretty big 2026, as its first of two planned DLC expansions, Cost of Hope, is Its launch is scheduled for summer at the end of this year.. Officially revealed during the Xbox Partner Preview Coming in late March, the DLC will feature a reignited conflict between two of The Zone’s largest and most well-known factions: Duty and Freedom.
However, ahead of the expansion’s arrival and sometime in April, developers GSC are releasing a free content update for the atmospheric FPS titled Sealed Truth, a patch that will expand one of the spookiest locations in the original 2007 STALKER game, Shadow of Chernobyl, as well as in the opening game of STALKER 2’s main questline.

Bullies! ☢️A free content update, Sealed Truth, will arrive in April to celebrate the announcement of the Cost of Hope DLC: you will be able to open the door to Laboratory X-18. And who knows what is hiding there in the dark… Stay tuned. pic.twitter.com/exaPaZkpRhApril 6, 2026
About what we will find in the unexplored depths of X-18 specificallyIt is impossible to say without more information. However, I’m at least expecting several of STALKER 2’s deadliest mutants, like bloodsuckers, burers, and poltergeists, and potentially even a pseudo-giant (one was present in Shadow of Chernobyl’s lab, after all).
Of course, it’s also entirely possible that we’ll encounter a new threat of some sort, probably one that has relevance to whatever narrative reason we need to delve deeper into the lab. The Sealed Truth additions may also even tie into the Cost of Hope DLC in some way, although again, we can’t say anything for sure at this time.
It’s also unclear whether the expanded area of However, if I had to guess, I’d say the former is more likely since the rest of X-18 participates early in the game.
I wish we knew more about Sealed Truth’s specific release date, but either way, it’s great that we’re getting a free content update ahead of Cost of Hope’s release later this year. Please note that STALKER 2 will also receive a patch that will update its engine to Unreal Engine 5.5.4 before the release of the DLC, which will significantly improve its performance.
With these updates and an expansion on the way, as well as the recent addition of Play Xbox anywhere support, there has never been a better time to return to The Zone or take your first steps inside for the first time. Unfortunately it is no longer Xbox Game Passbut is almost 50% off right now with this deal that drops the game from $59.99 to $30.79 loaded.
