TL;DR
- Samsung is expected to unveil a new, larger version of the Galaxy Z Fold this summer.
- Recent renders have attempted to preview what to expect from this so-called Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.
- Now we’ve found some new artwork and an animation depicting the Fold 8 Wide.
Samsung has something new in the works for its foldable devices this year, as evidence continues to build for the introduction of a new Galaxy Z Fold 8 wide model, which offers a slightly new form factor option for the company’s book-style Fold. While we’ve yet to see the actual hardware in person, we’ve recently had the chance to see quite a few finds that attempt to convey the Fold 8 Wide’s new screen shape, first in the form of some CAD-based renderingsand then with the publication of some Screens taken from One UI 9.. We’ve been digging into One UI 9 ourselves and have discovered some new Fold 8 Wide graphics to share with you.
As Samsung readies its Android 17-based One UI 9 system software for its fleet of Galaxy devices, early firmware builds have revealed some renders of the Fold 8 Wide. Last week, we saw these still images:

Even if they don’t show off any of the Fold 8 Wide hardware, these displays helped reinforce our expectations about the screen shape users can expect. And now we have some new screens, as well as a new animation to further support that:

Here, we’re seeing Samsung demonstrating features related to cover screen mirroring on the Fold 8 Wide. In addition to that, we find these two screens:
All of the images here clearly show very different devices from the Galaxy Z Fold we know today, and while we’re making some educated guesses about the precise aspect ratio when taking into account things like bezels, across all of these assets it’s roughly 1.3:1.
As if that shape wasn’t enough to convince you that we’re not just looking at the next regular Z Fold (with an aspect ratio much closer to the 1.11:1 square), we’re also finding “H8” in the filenames of those two fixed displays. In case you have forgotten, H8 was a code name We partnered with Samsung’s Wide Fold plans from the beginning.
Altogether, it’s pretty compelling evidence that we’re looking at the Fold 8 Wide. Of course, this is still the same kind of thing we’ve seen before, just more so. To truly satisfy our Fold 8 Wide appetites, we’ll eventually need to see some photos or videos of the smartphone’s actual hardware. With Samsung probably gearing up for a July launch (or at least this summer), that only leaves us a few more months until the foldable model surfaces – fingers crossed!
