Google is rolling out a price increase for YouTube Premium plans in the US, with prices rising by up to $4 per month.
Available now for new subscribers, YouTube Premium pricing in the US is as follows:
- Individual: $15.99/month, down from $13.99
- Family: $26.99/month, down from $22.99
- Lite: $8.99/month, down from $7.99
- Premium Music: $11.99/month, down from $10.99
YouTube Premium hasn’t increased prices in a few years, with the family plan jumping from $17.99 to $22.99 in 2022and individual plans later next in 2023 from $11.99 to $13.99 at the time. YouTube Premium Lite has only been available for about a yearwith Added background playback and offline downloads. to the low-cost subscription earlier this year.
Existing YouTube Premium subscribers are beginning to be notified of the price change via email, although Google has not widely announced the increase at this time. On our account that is subscribed to the family plan, the $22.99/month rate is still displayed, but several users report Receive emails about higher prices.
Apparently, the price change will apply during the June 2026 billing period.
The email says in part:
To continue providing great services and features, we are increasing your price to $15.99/month. We don’t make these decisions lightly, but this update will allow us to continue improving Premium and support the creators and artists you see on YouTube.
You will see the change reflected on your billing date of June 7, 2026.
While these price increases are not significant, by comparison, Netflix also increased prices by $2 Recently, the second increase in less than two years. – but they certainly won’t be well received.
Premium subscribers can cancel their subscription via YouTube Membershipswhere you can also pause the subscription for up to six months. Individual plan holders can save 15% (just over $13 per month) by paying $159.99 annually.
