The new prices, shared via emails reported by users on Reddit, are as follows:

  • Individual annual: $139.99, increasing to $159.99 per year

Previous YouTube Premium price increases in the US

The last time YouTube Premium raised its prices in the United States was in July 2023, when the monthly fee for the individual plan increased from From $11.99 to $13.99. The current price increase follows the same pattern, with a $2 increase for the individual plan.

The price increase comes at a time when free YouTube users are experiencing more ads and stricter enforcement of ad blockers. Google has not linked these changes to the upcoming subscription price adjustment in its communications to affected subscribers.

YouTube Premium offers ad-free videos, background playback, and offline downloads. Google has not announced any new features associated with the price change.

Subscribers who received email notifications did not have the option to lock in current prices before the new rates begin. Google has also not confirmed the exact date next month when billing will change for existing subscribers.
