007 First Light becomes IO Interactive’s best-selling game with 1.5 million sales in the first 24 hours


The latest game from IO Interactive, 007 First lightIt has become their best-selling title, selling more than 1.5 million copies in the first 24 hours.

It launched on May 27 on platforms including xboxSteam, epic gamesand PS5following an early access period for Digital Deluxe Edition owners that began on May 26.

The studio behind the game is best known for the Hitman series. This strong start marks a major milestone for a developer that was on the verge of going out of business less than a decade ago.

Sales breakdown for record-breaking 007 First Light release

Of the 1.5 million total sales in the first 24 hours, at least 500,000 came from Steam, according to data from Alinea Analytics. Steam sales alone generated over $25 million in revenue for the studio.

The rest of the sales came from Xbox Play Anywhere, Epic Games and PS5. The game launched on all platforms at the same time, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version confirmed for an undisclosed later date.

This release marks an important milestone for IO Interactive. The studio was once part of Square Enix, which withdrew its support in 2017. Before securing a management buyout, IO Interactive was on the verge of going out of business.

After becoming independent again, the studio developed the Hitman trilogy, which received both commercial and critical praise. Its latest release, 007 First Light, has become the studio’s best-selling title, surpassing the initial sales pace of previous games.

First Light is an origin story of MI6 agent James Bond, showing how he became the agency’s best-known agent. It is an original narrative, not based on any existing film.

The game is based on the action-stealth game that IO Interactive developed with the Hitman series.

First Light is now available on Xbox Play Anywhere, Steam, Epic Games and PS5. IO Interactive has not announced plans for post-launch content or a release date for the planned Nintendo Switch 2 version.
