At the beginning of this year, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms injected new energy into Westeros, weaving a brutal but wickedly funny tale of a wandering knight who goes mad with some troublesome Targaryens. The outside perspective showed viewers what it was like to walk through the kingdom as a normal person, although main character Dunk found an important ally in little Egg, whose real name is Aegon Targaryen.
Another Aegon, this one from several previous generations, returns to HBO when Dragon House third season starts, and game of Thrones Fans will quickly remember Westeros on a much larger scale. Unlike A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Dragon House It has a wide variety of characters, many of whom are actively competing for the Iron Throne, as well as remote locations and the kind of budget that is required when your story involves sea battles and dragons.

2. The Dragonseeds and the Black Team
The fact that Westeros had more dragons flying than Targaryens available to ride them became a major plot point in the second season, when Rhaenyra set out to find anyone with “dragon blood” to join the cause. After (literally) burning at least one noble who had branched out of the family tree, he turned to the kingdom’s vast crop of bastards. It took some arguing, but three more dragon riders emerged: Ulf White (riding Silverwing), Hugh Hammer (Vermithor), and Addam of Hull (Seasmoke).
At the end of the second season, Aemond of the Green Team, who rides Vhagar, the largest and fiercest dragon in Westeros, realized how outnumbered his side is. He was so furious and scared that he immediately burned down a village loyal to Rhaenyra in response.
3. Rhaena and the wild dragon
Rhaenyra tasked Daemon’s teenage daughter, Rhaena, with being a nanny/surrogate mother to Rhaenyra’s three youngest children when they were sent away from Dragonstone for safety reasons. Rhaena would a lot I’d rather be an active participant in the Dance of Dragons, but it’s basically useless without a dragon of my own.
Equally resentful and determined, she takes it upon herself to pursue a wild dragon that has been spotted in the vast desert of the Valley. At the end of the second season, he finally found it.
4. Ser Criston Cole’s Regrets
While season three’s big Battle of the Gorge will be fought at sea, there’s still a raging dragon-powered land war to contend with. In season two, we got our first taste of it at Rook’s Rest, which was devastating for both sides. Princess Rhaenys and her dragon died; King Aegon lost his dragon and barely escaped with his life.
After witnessing this, Cole realized for the first time how pointless everything that had happened up to this point had been: “Dragons dance and men are like dust beneath their feet… now we march toward our annihilation.” Their fight continues, but now there is much more doom infused into it.
5. Two important visions
Throughout the second season, Daemon spent his time causing chaos in the Riverlands and feeling the dizzying effects of the haunted castle Harrenhal and Alys Rivers, its resident witch. Fortunately for Team Black, they not only managed to rally all the armies, but also realized how important it was to support Rhaenyra instead of trying to take the Iron Throne from her.
That epiphany comes thanks to his vision of the future predicted by the first Targaryen ruler, Aegon the Conqueror: the “Song of Ice and Fire” encompassing the White Walkers and the rise of Daenerys Targaryen, as seen in game of Thrones.
Queen Helaena Targaryen, married to King Aegon (who is also one of her brothers), was also in Daemon’s vision. “You know what you should do,” he told her. This strange union between the Black and Green teams continues in King’s Landing, where Helaena informed another of her brothers, Aemond, that she will not take her dragon into battle with him.
He also revealed to him that he knows that Aegon’s injuries on the battlefield are Aemond’s fault. What’s more, “Aegon will be king again… and you will be dead. You were swallowed by the God’s Eye and never seen again.”

6. Larys and Aegon’s road trip
After the events of Rook’s Rest, Aegon returns to King’s Landing with terrible injuries. But greater danger awaits him in the Red Keep, where Aemond will do almost anything to ensure his brother does not recover and return to the Iron Throne.
Ser Larys Strong, Aegon’s cunning “Master Whisperer,” uses his powers of persuasion to convince Aegon that they should flee King’s Landing and, you know, just lie low in Braavos until the Dance of the Dragons is over. As we saw at the end of the first season, they managed to escape undetected, but it surely won’t be long before their absence is discovered.
7. The Sea Serpent and its children
For years, Lord Corlys resisted acknowledging Alyn and Addam of Hull as his children, even after his wife, Rhaenys (presumably the main reason he wanted to keep their offspring out of wedlock a secret in the first place) encouraged him to come forward.
The events of the second season suggested that there might be some softening between Corlys and Addam, who takes on new meaning on Team Black when she becomes a dragon rider. But Alyn, still deeply bitter, is unwilling to accept Corlys as a father figure. Luckily for Rhaenyra, however, Alyn is still willing to demonstrate his considerable seafaring skills as Corlys’ first mate, meaning these two will surely have another conversation about their relationship eventually.
8. Where in the world is Lord Otto Hightower?
Midway through the second season, the master manipulator and one-time Hand of the King was ousted from his influential position in King’s Landing. He was later summoned again, but never actually reappeared. Where did he go? He was languishing in an unknown prison when the second season came to an end.
9. Alicent’s Peace Offering to Rhaenyra
Despite everything, there are still fragments of mutual understanding between Rhaenyra and Alicent.
In the season two finale, Alicent made a daring visit to Dragonstone, echoing Rhaenyra’s earlier stealthy trip to King’s Landing, with a shocking proposal: she would arrange it so that Rhaenyra could take King’s Landing and claim the Iron Throne as peacefully as possible, with the gates open and Aemond and Vhagar absent.
He even agreed when Rhaenyra pointed out that Aegon would have to die as part of this plan. It’s a great plan! Of course, Dragon House fans know it will be like that never works great (there’s already too much going on), but at least the former best friends tried.
10. And these other key pieces!
There’s a quick montage at the end of season two showing several armies on the move. The Lannisters head to the Riverlands, towards Harrenhal. The Hightower approach the Reach, with Daeron Targaryen (Alicent’s youngest son, whom we have not yet met in Dragon House) flying his dragon, Tessarion, overhead. There are also the Winter Wolves, an army of “2,000 greybeards” who pledged to help Rhaenyra in the season two premiere, fighting their way from the frozen north.
Add that to the rival fleets preparing for the Battle of Gullet. and More dragons join the fight than we’ve ever seen on screen. Death, destruction, and Olympic-level conspiracies and intrigues are sure to boil over when Dragon House returns June 21 to HBO.
