Samsung has announced that Quick Share on the Galaxy S26 series will support native AirDrop file transfers and the launch will begin in Korea on March 23. Availability in the US, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, Southeast Asia and Taiwan expected later in the same week.
The company has not provided a precise timeline for each region, but expects broader availability within the same week.
AirDrop support comes to Galaxy S26 Quick Share
Google first introduced AirDrop support for Quick Share in November 2025initially with Pixel 10 lineup, then extended the feature to the Pixel 9 series. At the time, Google confirmed that the feature would eventually be available on all Android devices. The Galaxy S26 is the first Samsung device to receive support for this feature.
With this update, Galaxy S26 devices can now share files directly with Apple devices using the AirDrop-compatible functionality built into Quick Share.
How to Enable AirDrop File Sharing on Galaxy S26
Unlike the Pixel implementation, AirDrop support on Galaxy devices not enabled by default. Users must go to Settings, then Connected Devices and Quick Share to turn on Sharing with Apple devices and activate the feature.
When older Galaxy devices will get AirDrop support
Samsung has announced that support will be expanded to older Galaxy modelssimilar to how Google made the feature available on devices beyond the latest Pixel. However, the company has not specified which models will receive the update or when it will be implemented.
