SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) is underway and Google Play is there to enjoy the sights while also offering rewards to users on site and online.
Google announced who will be hosting the auction at SDCC, and people can get benefits and rewards to celebrate. If you can’t make it to the San Diego area for the festivities, Google Play Points members can still have fun. Google claims that users will encounter “instances of digital rewards.” For Gold Plus members, “you can unlock an exclusive digital rewards case on Google Play for a special chance to earn points and surprise collectibles.” Please note that this includes Play Points Gold, Platinum and Diamond members.
You can find these cases in the You or Benefits tab in Play Points. The special event: Comic-Con in San Diego ends on August 10, according to the app.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for “instant rewards,” users can head to the Use tab to redeem “high-demand gear,” like the Gen 2 Backbone One | DEATH STRANDING 2 Limited Edition Controller.
For everyone who has made the trip to SDCC, Google Play is hosting The Auction. From July 23 to 25, visitors can “enter an immersive space where tokens earned on the site are your currency.” Google highlights a huge gachapon that visitors can spin for rewards. You can use your tokens to redeem a personalized tote bag or “exclusive souvenirs” at the venue’s keychain bar.
Visitors can also earn rewards for MARVEL Strike Force and Crunchyroll.
All of this converges into a massive final auction on July 25 at 5 pm Pacific Time, hosted by Quenlin Blackwell. Visitors can bid on high-value items, from an Emerald Gemagotchi necklace with white diamond buttons on a 14-karat gold ball chain to a Herman Miller Vantum gaming chair. Purchasing in-game items and other items through the Google Play Store helps you accumulate points. In turn, these points level you up from Bronze to Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. In September, Google renewed Play Pointsintroducing new rewards. The inclusion of more prizes was for UK users. Google partnered with YouTube, Chrome, and developers to curate accessories and clothing options for points holders.
Shortly after, in December, Google Play Points brought the Pixel 10 Pro into the mix. with a decent discount. If you had the points, you could get $250 off the Pixel 10 Pro, bringing it down to $749 on the Google Store. However, the company said some users could have been eligible for an additional $200, bringing it down to $549. This was a promotion that Google ran from December 15-27, so if you were there (and interested), it was a treat.
Android Central’s opinion
I’d give my personal opinion on this, but you already know that I’m a huge comic book fan (and if you didn’t know that…now you know). SDCC is always a good time. Seeing what’s coming from my favorite games, Marvel comics, and DC comics is a highlight. But excuse me, I get my rewards on Google Play.
