Apple announced iOS 18 in your WWDC developer conference on June 10, releasing the first developer beta of the update immediately after the keynote. After several months of beta releases, Apple is finally releasing iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 to everyone today, just in time for the new iPhone 16 release.
Apart from the focus of Apple IntelligenceThere’s a redesigned Photos app, there are more customization options for the home screen (out, grid!), and the icons can be tinted. RCS messaging is now also available.
To update to iOS 18 or iPadOS 18, go to Settings app on your device. Gonna General and then Software update. If you don’t see iOS 18 immediately, select the option at the top of the screen where you can choose between iOS 17 and iOS 18. Please note that updates may take a while to install while the update is so new, as many users will have difficulty downloading it.

No Apple Intelligence features yet
As expected, the headline feature of iOS 18 is Apple Intelligence’s new set of AI features, but you won’t find it in the first version of iOS 18. Apple Intelligence will be available on iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro later this year and will offer features like live transcription, writing tools, generative imaging, and more.
It also features new emergency functions such as Satellite Messages and SOS Emergency Live Video, as well as Roadside Assistance via Satellite.
Apple Intelligence will debut as part of iOS 18.1 and later in October. The first releases will be in US English only, with English localizations coming in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK in December. Next year there will also be support for Chinese, French, Japanese and Spanish.
