Developer Halo Studios has completely moved on from infinite halo and now focuses on Halo: Evolved Campaign – a complete Unreal Engine 5-based remake of the original 2001 game Halo: Combat Evolved. The reinvention of the beloved classic will be one of the most important. xbox releases this year, and according to a recent leakit is very possible that it will have a release date of July 28. a previous report suggested that one of the studio’s next big projects after Campaign Evolved could be Project Eker, a potentially standalone project of sorts. While Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 got “Anniversary” remasters in 2011 and 2014 respectively, Halo 3 didn’t end up getting one in 2017, which is something that greatly frustrated fans of what was arguably the Halo game with the biggest cultural impact in the franchise.
So it’s great news for many that a full remake of Halo 3 is on the horizon, although only time will tell if the 2007 shooter is faithfully remade. Campaign Evolved has received criticism for reusing infinite halo assets and for some controversial changes like the inclusion of speed races and major art redesigns, after all.
