One of the biggest gaming news this week was the reveal of Metro 2039a sequel to the critically acclaimed 2019 shooter. Metro Exodus which will bring the beloved post-apocalyptic franchise back to Moscow and its subway tunnels after the previous title explored the state of the world beyond the city’s borders.
Studio 4A Games partnered with xbox to will present Metro 2039 in its entirety on Thursday morningwith Microsoft hosting a 15-minute preview of the upcoming FPS at a new “Xbox First Look” format. The deep dive revealed several details about the game’s story and setting, while also confirming a Winter 2026 release date. Xbox Series|S, Windows PC (Steam and the epic games store) and PS5.

Notably, Steam also has the same bundle for $7.49so don’t worry about being left out if you’re a PC gamer. Sure, it’s a dollar and a half more expensive, but you have the ability to modify the games if you want. and You can also increase its visual fidelity if you have a high-end gaming rig.

If you like single-player shooters and don’t mind horror elements, I can’t recommend the Metro series enough. The story of franchise protagonist Artyom and his comrades that has been told throughout the pre-Metro 2039 trilogy is a beautiful story of hope and resilience in a bleak, post-nuclear world, wrapped in one of the most compelling FPS atmospheres and gameplay you will ever experience.
Metro Exodus in particular stands out as my favorite open world shooter. with its unparalleled immersion, world design, and reactivity, but the series as a whole is a masterpiece. It’s worth the full price, so enjoying it for the price of a beer is one of the best value for money options you’ll ever take advantage of. Get the games while they’re this cheap; I promise you won’t regret it.
