Claude Code is a very powerful tool and is part of the reason I’m keeping my Pro subscription. Unfortunately, it looks like some people who sign up for Pro may not get Claude Code, as Anthropic is running an experiment where 2% of new users won’t get it. However, although Anthropic stated that it is just a small test, the paid plan page has been updated to show that Pro subscribers will no longer have access to Claude Code.

However, payment plans tell a different story.
On X, people are noticing that Claude Code is not reaching some new Pro level subscribers. Head of Growth at Anthropic,
Amol Avasare, tLook at the social platform. to announce that people should not panic yet. Not only are current Pro and Max subscribers unaffected by the change, but the exclusion will be a bit of an A/B test. In the responses to his original post, Avasare says his goal is to see if removing Claude Code from Pro plans will keep server load down.
However, if you take a look at Claude Pricing Plans PageYou may see that the Pro tier no longer says it comes with Claude Code, as shown in the screenshot above. This tells new subscribers that their Pro plan won’t come with Claude Code, even though Avasare says the vast majority of new signups should still get it.
Hopefully, there has been a confusion somewhere at Anthropic with the way the information is presented. At best, we may see Anthropic create a new tier between Free and Pro that excludes Claude Code, much like what Google did with its new AI Plus plan. In the worst case, new Pro subscribers will not receive Claude Code by default.
