
Last week Apple sent new firmware for AirPods Pro 3, and now, today, AirPods Max 2 also received a new firmware update.
New AirPods Max 2 firmware update now available
AirPods Max 2 owners, Apple has new firmware available to install today.
The previous firmware version was build 8E251 and today’s new version is 8E258.
No details have been shared about what is included in this latest firmware.
Apple releases AirPods firmware release notes on this pagebut it has not yet been updated with the latest version details.
Most firmware releases simply include “bug fixes and other improvements.”
That’s what last week’s AirPods Pro 3 firmware said, and it was the same phrase given for the latest version of AirPods Max 2 firmware.
How to install the AirPods Max firmware
Here are Apple’s instructions for activating an AirPods Max firmware update:
- Make sure your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is updated to the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS and that Bluetooth is turned on.
- Make sure your AirPods Max are connected via Bluetooth to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Connect your iPhone, iPad or Mac to Wi-Fi.
- Connect the charging cable to the bottom right earbud, and then plug the other end of the cable into a charger or USB port.
- Keep your AirPods Max within Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and wait at least 30 minutes for the firmware to update.
- Reconnect your AirPods Max to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Check the firmware version again.
