Witch hat workshop has quickly become one of the anime of the season, if not the most essential. So much so, that fans can’t be blamed for reaching a common anime adaptation impasse: watching weekly episodes, saving episodes for a final day binge, or giving in and reading ahead. Kamome ShirahamaThe beloved manga. Decisions, decisions.
But what if we told you there was a secret third option: one that satiates Shirahama’s desire to enjoy her custom art and swaps the unspeakable horrors that await Coco for heartbreaking, absolutely riotous comedy? Well, well, because we are. That option is your dream, pre-Witch hat workshop sleeve, Eniale and Dewiela.

Yeah Witch hat workshop Shirahama is on his great adventure, Dragon Ball Z was, Eniale and Dewiela Was she at her peak? Dr. depression whim.
Set in a world where heaven and hell coexist, the manga follows the rebellious but tremendously endearing friendship between Eniale, the angel, and Dewiela, the demon, two girls in charge of collecting souls on Earth, a job they would prefer to postpone by going shopping. Unfortunately for them, the heavenly bureaucracies run a very tight ship, so shirking their duties only piles on more work for them.
So they party wherever they can, diving into a generational soul-doll rivalry, dodging exorcists, and doing everything they can in the process to outdo each other. Naturally, their daily angel and demon routine devolves into chaos, ranging from benign to apocalyptic, making for a hilarious, short but sweet read.
For comparison, the dynamics of Eniale and Dewiela da Bayonetta and Juana a touch of Panty and stocking with garter beltbut with the debauchery reduced from a raucous 11 to a mischievous five. In Witch hat workshop Generally speaking, Eni and Dewi read as the prototype for Agott’s tsundere bite and Coco’s timid naivety reimagined as a wacky buddy comedy duo. Watching Shirahama remove his limitations and let these two wreak havoc, whether sabotaging each other’s soul quotas or teaming up to do the bare minimum, is a joy. And when they’re not colliding, they’re just girls who become friends: shopping, planning, and trying to live their best lives.
What I like most about the manga is that Shirahama is completely in his comic bag, writing slapstick jokes with an elasticity and confidence that feels distinctly aged, in line with Witch hat workshopIt’s a softer whim. With each chapter, you can feel it stretching, riffing, and drifting into seriousness in ways that thatThe tone does not always allow it. Coincidentally, the manga also shows his natural aptitude for storytelling with sapphic overtones that that Fans, especially Arkco-truthers (see you), will register this right away. Shirahama is genuinely funny here, but she’s also effortlessly flexing her ability to weave poignant, emotional beats into her gag comedy manga.
For readers who love thatThe visual splendor of, rest assured: Eniale and Dewiela It has the same characteristics. The panel work is exquisite, the ornate edges feel like flipping through an ancient tome, and the intricate details are as stunning as ever. But here, that craft is at the service of pure comedy. Over the course of its three volumes, Shirahama unleashes a cavalcade of supernatural disasters born from the duo’s joint stupidity: raising hordes of zombies while trying to turn a priest into an angel and a demon, parting the sea like Moses to find a lost earring, and shooting a beam of souls straight into the heavens.
And when the manga isn’t serving up spectacular runway fashion, heavenly and infernal antics, or some sapphic looks, it has heart. The highlight comes in chapter eight, where Dewiela goes from hovering over an old woman like a vulture hoping to get her soul back to befriending her and her “ugly” guard cat. That chapter made my eyes water, I’m not going to lie.

So if you need a nice quick read while you deliberate about whether to stockpile Witch hat workshop episodes or simply long for more of Shirahama’s work (out of it Pokémon cards illustrations—contains multitudes), Eniale and Dewiela It is absolutely worth your time.
