Brendan Fraser’s return to ‘The Mummy’ comes sooner than expected



Maybe it’s because The Mummy of Lee Cronin now seems destined to quickly disappear from theaters and movie buffs memories. Or maybe it’s because Halloween is generally more monster-friendly than late spring. But Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz‘s long awaited meeting in the room Mummy The film will arrive several months earlier than originally announced. Its new date is October 15, 2027.

The Mummy 4(still no official title) was originally scheduled to come out on May 19, 2028; as Variety reports, that space will now be occupied by the Miami Vice ’85 team of Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler.

The last entry in the Mummy The franchise, which began in 1999 with the hit co-starring John Hannah, who will also return, is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, aka Radio Silence. His previous production shows a little more horror than the swashbuckling film. Mummy series to date, although it does have its share of “beetles that eat humans alive” and the like.

Mummy The film could explore, beyond the inevitable exploration of creepy burial chambers, and whatever evolution Rick and Evelyn O’Connell’s relationship has gone through. But with the release date pushed up, we can probably start learning more sooner rather than later.
