He Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 ports for PS4 and PS5 They were received with much expectation and enthusiasm. But guess what? They are a disaster. Who could have guessed?
Just everyone who’s ever tried to play the backwards compatible versions on Xbox consoles in recent times. Collectively, it’s a “I told you so,” because we knew it would happen.
The only difference is that the ‘shiny new’ PlayStation ports seem to be receiving some kind of active support from Activision. Because Black Ops has disabled some of its playlists while the “issues” are investigated.
The problem is simple: hackers. Do you believe Black ops 7 Does it have a bad reputation for hackers? Without modern anti-cheat technologies, old games are like the Wild West.
📢 Call of Duty: #BlackOps on PS4/PS5. Some playlists have been disabled while we investigate the reported issues.July 13, 2026
It didn’t take long for the new ports to be compromised, which really shows how lazy they are. We’re not just talking about wallhacks either, although they are pretty bad.
Players are inundated with rooms full of players performing feats. Some get max prestige instantly, everything unlocked, ridiculous stats, and perhaps worst of all for legit players, a “negative XP” cheat has been reported to be causing players to revert to level 1.
I love both games, but from the beginning, I saw nothing more than a quick cash grab, cashing in on gamers’ nostalgia for the old games we love so much, especially in a year where the new ones Obligations It has not had the best reception. But they’re not “new”, right? They’re the same old games we’ve been able to play on Xbox all the time.
I saw a question on reddit where, potentially related to the recent hype, an Xbox gamer was asking if Black Ops 2 was worth buying. At full price, the only answer is no. If you want to enjoy multiplayer, I would also say the answer is no. If you can get a cheap disc to enjoy the campaign and Zombies? Sure.
But kudos at least to Activision for apparently offering support on these ports. How long it will last and how far they will go, I guess we will find out. But it’s more than we’ve seen on Xbox with existing versions in a long time.
