Why Capcom changed the release date

Capcom has not given a specific reason for changing the release date. Originally scheduled for September 25, 2026, Onimusha: Way of the Sword would have been released alongside several major titles, including Control: Resonant, the console version of Dune Awakening, and Silent Hill: Townfall.

The new release date is set for September 4, 2026, positioning the game against Orbitals and The Blood of Dawnwalker, both of which are new IP releases without any established franchise history. This change is intended to provide a less crowded release window for Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled to release on September 4, 2026. The game will be available on multiple platforms and stores, including:

  • Xbox Series X|S,
  • PlayStation 5,
  • nintendo switch 2,
  • PC via Windows, Steam and Epic Games Store.

A playable demo is accessible on all platforms for those interested in trying out the game before pre-ordering.
