DC Studios needs some encouragement after the box office and critical disappointment of supergirl and, according to this new trailer, director James Watkins clay face It could just be the ticket. The first official trailer for the film doesn’t lean so much on the body horror of its heartbreaking previewbut it’s still quite disturbing. And yes, that haunting version of “Do You Realize??” still underlines the whole thing.
The film’s official logline reads: “Matt Hagen’s meteoric rise from Gotham street kid to Hollywood leading man is tragically cut short when the actions of a local crime boss leave him horribly disfigured. Abandoned by his team and left with nothing, Matt seeks a cutting-edge treatment that miraculously returns him to his former self… but also unexpectedly affects his grip on reality, leading him down a destructive path of all-consuming revenge.”
clay face starring Tom Rhys Harries (the knights) as Matt Hagen, Naomi Ackie (Mickey 17) like Dr. Caitlin Corr and Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale) as John Pearlman. It is directed by James Watkins from a script by horror master Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. It opens in theaters on October 23.
