Motorola’s Razr series is still my favorite and this year, Motorola stepped up its camera gamewhich offers better and brighter sensors with better dynamic range and incredible zoom. But better sensors are only part of the equation: you also need to make sure your cameras are set up and ready to help you take better photos.
These are some of the camera features I changed on my Motorola Razr 2026 Models to give me the best experience. Please note that many of these features are available for the razor fold and/or the Razr Ultra 2026but it may also be available on Razr Plus 2026 and Razr 2026.
Color
Similar to the phone’s display color profile, Motorola lets you change how the Razr processes color in your images. You can find it by tapping the brightness icon at the top of the camera viewfinder. Here you will find three options: Natural, Vividand Signature stylealthough I will focus mainly on the first two.
The Natural style offers a “realistic” color look, while the Vivid option increases saturation to make colors really pop. You can’t edit any of these options, but I think the Natural color style offers fantastic color reproduction on the Razr Ultra 2026 and Razr Fold.
As with the display color profile, I don’t mind the Vivid color option as it seems to oversaturate the images, although this will obviously depend on your preferences.
You can also select the Signature Style; However, this is a little more complicated and requires training the camera by editing images in the Google Photos app.
Composition
Most smartphone cameras don’t enable compositing features by default, but as someone who constantly tests multiple phones, I like to turn them on to help me compose similar shots across models. In the Razr 2026 series, you will have to navigate to Camera Settings > Capture Wizard to allow the assistance grid and leveler.
The assist grid will provide a visual rule of thirds grid, which is great for composing shots, while the leveler will help you keep your images level with the horizon.
Cover and preview screen
One of the benefits of having a foldable phone is the cover screen. On the Razr series, external displays offer considerable utility, with features you can easily enable or disable. In the upper left corner of the camera viewfinder, you will find a rectangular icon. Tapping it will cycle through two functions (on the Razr Fold, the screen must be open), one of which enables an external viewfinder. This allows people to see themselves while you take photos, making it easy for them to compose themselves however they want.
The other feature of the cover screen includes cartoons, which you can use to capture the attention of younger children. if you enter Camera Settings > Camera CartoonsYou can choose which cartoons you want on the external screen or just play them randomly.
I also like to alternate the No cultivation option for External Screen Preview in Camera Settings, which means that on the Razr 2026 foldable phones you’ll be able to see the full viewfinder, not just a square cropped version.
On both the Razr and Razr Fold foldable phones, I turn on the Instant Review option, which should show a quick preview of the captured images on the cover screen if you don’t want to activate live preview.
As for the Razr Fold, you can go even further by enabling a secondary preview on the internal display. This only works when the phone is open: tap the top-most icon to the left of the camera viewfinder to enable preview. Every time you take a photo, it displays the image on one side while keeping the viewfinder open on the other, so you can continue taking photos or view scenes side by side.
Selfies and portraits
On the Razr Fold, you can take better selfies with the rear camera sensors by tapping the little person icon in the top left corner of the camera viewfinder (when the phone is closed). This will ask you to open your phone while keeping the camera viewfinder on the external screen.
However, you can also choose whether your selfies appear as they appear in the viewfinder or as you appear in real life. This basically reverses the perspective of the selfie, and it depends entirely on your preferences (I like to mirror the image). To change this, navigate to Camera Settings and toggle Selfie mirror on or off, depending on your preferences.
fashion portrait It is a way for smartphones to imitate DSLR cameras by applying a bokeh effect around the subject. On Razr phones, you can adjust this effect by navigating to Portrait in the Camera app carousel and tapping the ⨍ symbol. You can use the slider to change the intensity of the bokeh effect from 1 to 6, depending on your preference.
Additionally, you can use the portrait beautifier to change your appearance by tapping the face icon. This includes options such as smoothing, toning, slimming the face and even making your eyes look bigger, although I prefer to leave this feature aside and let my natural beauty speak for itself 💅🏾.
Camcorder mode
Camcorder mode It’s a feature unique to foldable phones and Motorola gives you a certain level of control over it. Go to Camera Settings and tap Camcorder mode to open the menu. You can make things easier by activating Automatic recordingwhich automatically starts recording when you bend the phone 90 degrees or by enabling a short 3-second timer.
Additionally, the Razr 2026 series features a new Rotate to zoom Feature that will zoom in or out when you tilt the phone in any direction. And thanks to horizon lockThe video stays still even when you tilt it to zoom, which is pretty good.
gestures
One of the best things about having a Motorola phone is the gestures. You can enable the Quick capture feature in Settings or Camera Settings, which allows you to open the camera by simply rotating the phone twice. You can also control which camera opens: the rear camera or the selfie camera. On Razr foldable phones, you can also choose whether to open the default camera or Mirror mode.
The Razr series also has Air gestures for the camera, which allows you to take a photo by simply showing the palm of your hand to the camera. A short countdown will begin to give you time to position yourself for the image.
You can take this further with palm-based video control. Show your palm to start recording a video, then make a fist toward the camera to stop recording. You’ll see a large fist icon with a circular countdown when the phone recognizes a fist. I find it quite aggressive and see a fist when I’m not making one, so I leave this feature disabled.
Video
When it comes to video recording, I think it’s best to leave the resolution at 4K and 30 fps for most scenarios. Fortunately, you can easily change the resolution and frame rate from the viewfinder. You can also go up to 8K at 30fps, but that’s overkill in most situations.
I will say that while the Razr Ultra and Razr Plus 2026 are compatible Dolby VisionI would keep it that way. I don’t like the way it processes colors, as they often appear too saturated and the lighting seems a bit overexposed. But if you have the Razr Fold, you will find an additional button on the video viewer in the form of a video recorder. Tap this to enable the Video enhancement enginewhich greatly improves color and tone and minimizes noise.
Additional video settings can be found in the Camera app settings, where I recommend turning on Auto frame rate For better low light videos, Audio AI for Audio zoom capabilities (focuses the microphone on the magnified area), and Efficient videos for smaller video sizes.
Situational characteristics
The Razr phones have a few more situational camera features that I would recommend carrying in your back pocket, as they can come in handy when you are in a situation that requires them. Here are some features you’ll want to remember to use:
- action shot: If you’re trying to take a photo of a fast-moving subject, tap the running person icon in the viewfinder. This increases the shutter speed and uses AI magic to keep your subject in focus, making it a more reliable option than the main camera mode. Only the Razr Fold allows you to zoom while using Action Shot.
- group photo: Similar to Best Pixel Shot, this will ensure everyone in the shot has their eyes open so everyone looks their best.
- photo booth: This fun feature automatically takes 4 photos and arranges them into a collage. You can then edit said collage by adding additional photos and changing the layout.
- Active photos: This saves a short clip of the scene when taking a photo. When you view it in Google Photos, you can play the video (which also includes audio) and even save it as a video, GIF, or a separate photo (without the motion attached). Unfortunately, this feature doesn’t stay on, so you’ll have to activate it every time you open the camera.
- horizon lock: This is a pretty cool video feature that keeps the video fixed on the horizon no matter how much you move or tilt. This is especially good for sports or fast-moving videos, giving you a super stable clip.
Some of these features are hidden in the More section of the camera carousel. However, you can tap the pencil icon and move them to the main carousel if you want quick access to them.
