Blumhouse is making another Five nights at Freddy’s film and recruited a new writer to craft his script.
That would be Gary Dauberman, no David Robert Mitchell as you may have heard recently. This will be the first freddy’s film without franchise creator Scott Hawthon as writer, who co-wrote the screenplay for the first film with Seth Cuddeback and director Emma Tammi, and had sole writing credit for the second.
As the hollywood reporter notes, this is actually the first real news about Five nights at Freddy’s 3. The second film was released in December 2025 and grossed $240 million worldwide, despite fairly dismal reviews from critics and some fans. While Tammi is expected to return as director for a third time, it’s currently a question mark whether the first two films’ main trio of Josh Hutcherson (Mike), Elizabeth Lail (Vanessa), and Piper Rubio (Abby) will return. freddy’s 2 ended with Vanessa’s body taken over by the animatronic Marionette after Mike and Abby became estranged from her. So the window is open for the Schmidts to return, or for some new people to be in Marionette’s sights.
