Stop the presses! A laptop manufacturer has just announced a price reduction in 2026. Despite the current RAM crisis and component shortage, Framework has just lowered the price of the Framework Laptop 13 Pro.
Framework was able to obtain a new SSD from its partner ADATA that offers better performance and reliability and costs less.
Framework Laptop 13 Pro pre-orders have not started shipping, so any orders that have already been placed have been upgraded to the new SSD and the price has been adjusted.
“This new SSD comes in 1TB and 2TB options, with the 1TB being priced lower than the 500GB SSD we had previously rated, so we will also be switching 500GB orders to the 1TB drive at a lower price.” framework explained.
The Framework website was not showing the reduced price when I wrote this article, so I can’t share the exact costs of the new configurations. I will update this article as more information becomes available.
The announcement is good news for those purchasing Framework’s exclusive laptop, but it’s a relatively small respite from the current financial climate.
Even in Framework’s announcement about the price reduction, the PC maker warned that CPU price increases are expected. “We expect that we will have to adjust the overall system pricing on Framework Laptop 13 Pro in the coming weeks for new orders,” Framework said.

Framework lowered its prices the same day Apple revealed several price increaseswhich prompted a playful jab. Clarified frame in a follow up post that the timing of their reductions was a coincidence and not a response to Apple.
The unfortunate reality is that many laptop manufacturers have raised prices, including frame. Microsoft, Dell, Lenovo, HP and others have had to raise prices. For a time, Apple was immune to price increases due to its stockpile of components, but that is no longer the case.

The same factors that contribute to those components doubling in price will affect PC parts.
