Rumors have resurfaced about a set of “bone conduction” headphones that Samsung is developing.
Tipster evowizz in X published a brief claim about a unique pair of headphones that Samsung supposedly has in the works (via SamMobile). Their post claims that the previously rumored “Galaxy Buds Able” title has been replaced with “Galaxy Buds On.” The publication adds that they carry Samsung’s SM-U600 model number internally.
The number reportedly changes “R” to “U,” the latter of which is typically used to identify new headphones from the brand.
The situation progresses with another round of leaks SammyGuru. According to their post, the publication discovered “Galaxy Able” in the code of Samsung’s Wearables app under the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro. What’s more, the post highlights a “samsung.accessory” string that may suggest full integration of the headphones into Samsung’s software. This makes speculation lean one way, but nothing is confirmed yet.
From time to time, rumors will conflict in this way. It is best to take what has been said here with a grain of salt for the moment.
Audio changes
For this to make sense, we’ll have to go back to April, when the rumors of “bone conduction headphones” emerged. At the time, the name “Galaxy Buds Able” led the way with an open-ear or “clip-on” design. These headphones were said to be placed in a person’s ear and sent vibrations through their bones to produce sound. Clearly, this is a departure from the in-ear headphones we’re used to seeing and wearing (or even traditional open-back headphones).
The model number that SamMobile mentioned in this recent leak was cited before. Previous reports added that the “U” is usually reserved for US product launches, but this model number changes things. The vitality or richness of the audio has also been questioned. If these buds rely on bone conduction and not more traditional methods, your bass could be affected.

These headphones already sounded interesting before, but the idea is not so crazy or exclusive to Samsung. Other brands have gone down this route before and could be seen as another headphone alternative, like anything else on the market. I’m still holding back as there is nothing more about these buds. No hardware specs, no charging case, nothing. For now I will wait.
