After a long period of silence, rumors about Samsung’s next smart ring could ruin any hopes you had for 2026.
This week, a report from EtNews (Korean) claims Samsung could be forced to skip the year 2026, as it works hard on the Galaxy Ring 2 (via 9to5Google). While nothing is certain, these rumors suggest that Samsung’s January/February 2027 Galaxy Unpacked could be where we look next. The publication’s source alleges that it is “likely” that Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Ring 2 “early next year.”
The allegations continue, with the alleged source claiming that Samsung is trying to improve temperature sensors and the accuracy of sleep data. What’s more, the next version of the smart ring could “greatly expand knowledge about cardiovascular health.” Blood sugar monitoring, in a non-invasive practice, came up again, recalling previous rumors we have heard for years.

Comfort on the Galaxy Ring 2 is also another subject of internal discussion by Samsung. Rumors say the company could look to “optimize the placement of internal components” to facilitate a lighter and more practical smart ring.
Let’s talk about Galaxy Ring 2
We’ve been on an up-and-down road with the Galaxy Ring 2 for a while. Last year, we thought we might see it during Samsung’s Summer Unpacked, but reports quickly dashed those hopes.. The device was said to be knee-deep in its “early development” stage and that Samsung would not release it in 2025. Some attributes mentioned in today’s rumor were also mentioned back then, such as a slimmer build and longer battery life.
Android Central’s opinion
These rumors also said that Samsung was forced to “re-evaluate” the launch of the Galaxy Ring 2 due to the market. I wonder if everything else he’s trying to do encouraged him to take another look too. There are lingering problems with smart rings, especially when you think about longevity and the possibility of having to replace parts. We still have little to go on, so hopefully there will be more in the future.
As for its battery, rumors claim that Samsung is chasing “dream battery” technology for the Galaxy Ring 2. They would be “all-solid-state” batteries, offering an increase in energy density from 200 to 360 Wh/L. In short, we could see a larger cell in the Galaxy Ring 2. It was also surprising to see that Samsung’s non-invasive blood glucose monitoring mentioned in this rumor. This is a piece of technology that the company has been working for years.
Originally rumors thought it might debut on the Galaxy Watch 7, but that didn’t happen. It certainly didn’t happen with the Watch 8 either.
