In all the chaos and excitement that comes with a new look for a Galaxy foldable, one might miss that Samsung didn’t actually offer to convert its 256GB Galaxy Z Fold 8 to a 512GB model before your eyes. It couldn’t have been the glasses; those won’t be released until this fall.

You can also trade in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 for the same amount, and it wouldn’t be a bad deal if you bought it for a similar price during last year’s pre-order period.
You could argue that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is less expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 last year, although it doesn’t have a third camera. This is reserved for “Ultra” phones, like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. That does It costs more than last year’s release, $2,099.
With an exchange, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 drops to $699 for the 256 GB version. If you’re dead set on the 512GB model, it costs $899 under the same circumstances. Considering the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the model turning heads this year, it’s still not a bad deal. Even without a trade-in, Samsung offers credit for your store.
