The Galaxy Z Fold 8 sounds pretty familiar based on initial leaks, but apparently Samsung is making a tweak to the selfie camera cutout that sounds interesting, but I’m curious if it’s something anyone actually cares about.
According ice universeSamsung will reduce the cutout of the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s selfie camera, on the outer screen, by a considerable margin. Side by side, the different looks are immediately noticeable.
While the Fold 7’s cutout is 3.7mm, the Fold 8 reduces it to 2.5mm (in diameter).
As mentioned, it seems like a pretty big difference, and it’s always nice to see screen space regained while making cuts less visible.
But was this really important?
I am a daily user of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. I bought this phone with my own money. It’s a great device, but Samsung has a lot of room for improvement. Heat management, battery life (and size), hinge crease dust, and more are all things I’d love to see improvements on. long before the selfie camera cutout comes to mind. Samsung is certainly capable enough to fix more than one problem at a time but as the industry continues to move forward, I really hope that not too much time has been spent on this compared to the long list of other problems that need to be addressed…
