Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra name is basically official in new leak

Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will include two devices, the Fold 8 and the Fold 8 “Ultra,” a brand that remains incredibly confusing, but essentially official thanks to the latest leaks.

It’s widely known (pun (mostly) unintentional) that Samsung has two Galaxy Z Fold 8 devices in the works. One that recycles the form factor of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and another that reflects Apple’s next foldable iPhone with a wider interior screen and a shorter exterior panel.

However, in a move that is the opposite of what one would expect, A leak in May revealed that Samsung would name the new wider device “Galaxy Z Fold 8”, while changing the name the family form factor such as “Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra”.

it’s so weird.

And yet, another new leak essentially cements this as fact.

The case listings in the “Yuchuan” WPC database show cases for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Double 8and Fold 8 Ultra. With less than a month until Samsung launches these phones, that’s essentially confirmation that yes, this is the brand we’re going for.

The cases themselves are pretty unremarkable, other than the “Qi2 Ready” stamp in the corner which is quite unusual to see.

These listings probably won’t stick around for long, both because they’re ruining Samsung’s big launch and because case listings almost never stay on the WPC’s “Certified Products” list for more than a week or two, as we’ve noticed when tracking this list over the past few years.

Samsung is expected to launch its new foldable devices on July 22.
