Microsoft has announced that it will attend this year’s edition. Gamescom event to announce lots of Xbox news, host Xbox Fan Festivaland present the first playable public demo of Gears of War: E-Daywhich will give players a preview of its campaign mode.
However, some gears of war Fans are eager to see more gameplay footage from this long-awaited prequel to the franchise. So the game’s developers, Coalition, decided to satisfy their appetite with a Gears of War: E-Day tech demo at Unreal Fest Chicago.
This tech demo doesn’t show much combat gameplay, as it focuses more on how detailed the game’s presentation is, thanks to the Unreal Engine, from its lighting, environmental details, physics, atmosphere, etc.

Gears of War: E-Day then previewed one of its cutscenes where Marcus Fenix and other soldiers retreat from an invading Locust horde.
As for Xbox FanFest, this will be the second stop of its comeback world tour. Like his previous appearance in the Xbox Games Showcase June 2026will feature plenty of activities for Xbox fans to participate in, including playing video games, competitions, Q&As with the game developers, cosplay, and more.
Gamescom 2026 will take place from August 26 to 30, 2026and will host a variety of other video game announcements and public demos from other developers such as CapcomFor example.
Microsoft also has plenty more announcements lined up ahead of Gamescom, so stay tuned as we keep an eye out for information in the coming months.
