Following the greats Expressive neural redesign and new voices Last month, Google updated Gemini Live with memory access.
At I/O 2026, Gemini Live was integrated more deeply into the chat experience to enable quick switching between voice and text conversations. Expanded access to connected apps lets Live tap into YouTube, Utilities, Workspace, Imaging, and more during conversations. (We’re still waiting for access to Google Messages.)
Gemini Live can now “use memories from your previous chats and information from some connected apps.” This was added to the support page At some point after I/O, Google explained that “Gemini Live follows the same permissions you choose when you chat with Gemini.”
In our tests, Gemini Live successfully referenced previous chat conversations. This results in “helpful, personalized responses” and is currently available in English in the US.
Gemini about page He adds that Gemini Live can “securely remember key details you mention in different sessions, such as dietary preferences, important family dates, or your favorite hobbies, so you don’t have to repeat yourself in future chats.”
That said, the Personal Intelligence settings page on Android still says that Memory is “coming soon to Live.”
This capability helps Gemini Live achieve feature parity with the core chat experience.
