Continuing the Chromecast legacy, Google TV Streamer brings a sleek new design, more power, a redesigned remote, and smart home hub features to Google TV.

As the name suggests, it runs on Google TV/Android TV. This means you’ll get direct access to the Google Play Store and its incredible selection of apps. If you’d rather avoid the built-in UI, it also supports Google Cast, so you can stream content to it from your mobile device.
Of course, having Google TV also means you can use Google Assistant for voice commands or Google Home to control your smart home devices.

The rest of the experience is just as pleasant. Performance is 22% faster compared to the Chromecast with Google TV. It runs on a MediaTek MT8696 and 4 GB of RAM. Storage has also doubled to 32GB.
However, there is a small disadvantage of Google TV Streamer. This one is designed to sit on a flat surface, unlike previous models, which were hidden behind the TV. This means you must find a home for it and it may remain in sight at all times. That said, the minimalist design doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb and blends easily into most environments.
The remote control has also been updated. It is larger, which we really like, as it makes it more ergonomic. It has a better grip. Google also added a “Find my remote” feature, which makes it beep if it can’t find it.
Get Google TV Streamer on sale while you can, because deals seem to come and go at random. The price could go up again tomorrow, for all we know.
