Google’s custom AI image generator is now free for US users.

Google is expanding one of Gemini’s most AI personal characteristics to a much broader audience. The company previously limited custom image generation to paying subscribers, but is now offering it for free to eligible Gemini users in the US, opening up more people’s access to AI-generated images based on their photos, preferences, and connected Google apps.

The move builds on Google’s Personal Intelligence platform that launched earlier this year. Instead of responding to all requests uniformly, Personal Intelligence allows Gemini to tailor responses based on data from services you’ve chosen to link, such as Google Photos. The latest update takes this idea a step further, combining Personal Intelligence with Google’s Nano Banana imaging model, allowing Gemini to generate images that better reflect your interests and lifestyle.

For example, you can ask Gemini to design your dream living room, imagine your perfect vacation, or make artwork around your hobbies. Instead of just creating something generic, AI can access context from your connected apps and Google Photos library to produce more personalized results.
